The innovative Banfi winery
The modern and innovative Banfi winery was founded around 1978 by brothers John and Harry Mariani. They began by growing grapes in Montalcino, but have since expanded to 2,830 hectares of vineyards on the edge of the Orcia Valley. The winery possesses state-of-the-art equipment for experimentation, and from 7,000 barrels, they produce the elegant and captivating wines that are synonymous with Montalcino worldwide. They are exceptionally ambitious, and thanks to their focus on both quantity and quality, their Banfi wines have become world-renowned. The estate is renowned for its clonal research, allowing noble grape varieties to flourish in their optimal terroir. The cellar houses 300 stainless steel tanks and some 2,000 barrique barrels and large Slovenian oak casks. The third generation is currently at the helm, combining unparalleled quality with their traditions.
Enjoy the floral aromas of Banfi Brut Metodo Classico
The grapes are carefully selected at peak ripeness and taken directly to the winery after harvest. The most important part is the fermentation process. This first takes place for 24 months, followed by a second fermentation in the bottle according to the classic method. This takes place on the lees for a full 30 months. The result is a straw-yellow wine with a refined sparkle. The aroma is intense with floral aromas. The taste is surprisingly lively and fresh. Beautifully balanced with a characteristic acidity. The finish reveals pleasant notes of bitter almond.
