The renowned Banfi winery has become world-famous for its Tuscan wines. The vineyards are located on the exceptional southern slopes of Mantolcino, resulting in rich wines. But this prestigious winery also owns vineyards in Italy's famous Piedmont wine region. About 40 years ago, Banfi purchased 45 hectares of vineyards, which are used to produce this Gavia Gavi.

Banfi's hundreds of hectares of vineyards

Banfi is by far the largest and most important producer in the Italian region of Brunello di Montalcino. Banfi was born from a shared dream of brothers John and Harry Mariani. The estate, with its imposing castle, is located in the south of the town of Montalcino and comprises 2,830 hectares, 850 of which are dedicated to specialized vineyards. Innovation is paramount, and the cellar is a frequent place for experimentation. Thanks to their vision and determination, they produce excellent quality wines, which neighboring producers are only too happy to share. Gavi is located in eastern Piedmont and is named after the village of the same name. This region guarantees crisp white wines that have even achieved DOCG status. This quality wine is made from the Cortese grape. For the Banfi variety, the vines are deeply rooted in soils of rocky clay and marl. The grapes are harvested after a rigorous selection and brought to the ultramodern winery. Here, the clean must is gently pressed and fermented at a controlled temperature for 20 days. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks gives Gavia Gavi a fresh character.

The balanced Banfi Principessa Gavia Gavi

This Principessa Gavia Gavi has a pale straw yellow color in the glass. Intense aromas of pineapple and green apple are immediately released. The palate is wonderfully balanced with soft acidity and a dry finish. Ideal as an aperitif, it also pairs beautifully with seafood.
