Barefoot Winery grew its reputation with Chardonnay and Merlot, but in recent years it has also invested heavily in grape varieties like Sauvignon Blanc. The founder of this beautiful Californian winery is Mr. Davis Bynum, who created a new generation of wines in his garage, prioritizing softness and refinement. Barefoot owes its name to the first pressing, which was pressed with bare feet. When visionary entrepreneurs Michael Houlihan and Bonnie Harvey took over in 1986, they retained the name. They also wanted to emphasize their history, which is why a foot image still appears on the label today.
Barefoot's Sauvignon Blanc vineyard
Finding the perfect spot for this Sauvignon Blanc wasn't easy. After all, the grape loves freshness and a lot of wind, but fortunately, Barefoot has selected a unique location for this white wine. High on the hills where the wind always blows, the Sauvignon Blanc grapes grow. Because of their altitude, the difference between day and night temperatures is significant. This allows the Sauvignon Blanc grapes to cool down considerably at night, and we taste that in the vibrant, fresh aroma and flavor. For several years now, Barefoot wines have been made by female winemaker Jennifer Wall. She knows better than anyone how Barefoot wines should taste, and today, the wines are exquisite.
What does Barefoot Sauvignon Blanc taste like?
This white wine from Barefoot is the driest in the Barefoot series. Its color is bright yellow with a beautiful green sheen. The aroma is summery, with vibrant aromas of citrus, nectarine, and freshly mown grass. The taste is intense, fresh, and very pleasant, with lovely notes of citrus, melon, and grapefruit. The finish is cheerful and long, leaving you with nothing but enjoyment and laughter!
