Vintage Report
Description
This wine is part of Baron Philippe de Rothschild's Heritage range, which celebrates five famous Bordeaux appellations. Each region bears the name of an influential member of the Rothschild family. The grapes used for Baron Henri are harvested from several prime plots within the Médoc. Regardless of the vintage, Baron Henri is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, with smaller additions of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
The world's best wines from Rothschild SA
Founded in 1933, this winery is located in Bordeaux. In addition to vineyards in the Médoc, this renowned winery also owns numerous plots in Chile and California. Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA's ambition is to produce the world's finest wines, each in its own category. The wines of the Baron Philippe de Rothschild family business are as much a work of art as they are a product of technical expertise. Baron Henri Medoc is dedicated to Baron Henri de Rothschild (1872-1947). A man of many talents (doctor, philanthropist, playwright, and bibliophile), he bequeathed a vast collection of 18th-century books to the French National Library. This wine is made in a world-renowned wine-growing region, planted with premium grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. The grapes are harvested by hand and transported in ten-kilo crates to the winery. Here, the grapes are destemmed and gently crushed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a high temperature. The duration of fermentation is determined by daily inspection of the various fermentation vessels. A long fermentation period is generally used to ensure a well-balanced tannin structure. Before blending, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation, after which it is aged in barrels for six months. What does Baron Henri Medoc taste like?
This results in a wine with a rich and full bouquet on the nose, hinting at ripe fruit and leather. From a powerful and ample attack with progressive tannins, the body develops distinctive characteristics from the pebbled soil. Highly expressive aromatic potential and very complex fruit flavors. This Baron Henri Medoc has a structured finish with a long aftertaste.Product details
