What a fantastic white wine from the Rueda region! This Bellori Joven is made from the Verdejo grape, which gives it its fresh and exceptionally pure character. It's a young white wine with a bright straw yellow color.
Enjoy a fresh Verdejo from Bellori
Rueda is the historic white wine region of Spain. The Palomino grape used to dominate here, producing sherry-like wines. In the 1970s, however, Verdejo took over. This wine is fresh from the press, incredibly vibrant, and crystal clear. It has the beautiful tropical notes we expect from a Rueda.
A group of friends and wine enthusiasts met in 2008 at a beautiful wine estate in the Spanish village of Ventosa de la Cuesta. This 34-hectare vineyard inspired them to launch the "Bellorí Vinos" winemaking project a few years later. Bellorí Joven white wine is made with Verdejo grapes and belongs to the DO Wiel. The vineyards are located in the "La Ventosa" dehesa, at an altitude of over 800 meters.
The grapes are harvested by hand during the cold months to facilitate selection and destemming. They macerate for several hours at low temperatures before being transferred to stainless steel tanks, where the liquid will ferment. Once the wine reaches its peak expressiveness and complexity, it is bottled.
What does the Bellori Joven Rueda Verdejo taste like?
The nose is characterized by high, medium intensity, with aromas of freshly mown grass and aromatic herbs like hay or fennel, beautifully balanced with balsamic notes of anise and licorice, along with subtle hints of white flowers and orange blossom, resulting in a fresh, elegant, and surprisingly complex wine. On the palate, the wine has a greedy mouthfeel that leads to the pleasant freshness of a young wine with good acidity. The finish is long and intense, characterized by memories of fresh fruit like apple and pear, accompanied by the same balsamic notes as on the nose. And delicious it is! A true Rueda, this Bellori Joven Verdejo pairs perfectly with tapas, cheeses, and grilled vegetables.
