The Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) winery has earned its reputation in Bordeaux, as they continue to produce some of France's finest and most renowned wines. They are renowned worldwide, and it's no wonder winemaking is second nature to them. With a wealth of experience, Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) wanted to expand their winemaking beyond their beloved Bordeaux. In 1999, they acquired Château d'Aussières, a winery with a centuries-old history. Wine has been produced here since Roman times, offering significant potential. Located just west of Narbonne, the d'Aussières winery is already an absolute top-notch wine after its first pressing, and at this price!
The unique soil structure of Blason d'Aussieres
After purchasing Blason d'Aussieres in the Corbieres region, the winemakers at Domaines Barons de Rothschild made a major decision. They largely uprooted the old, neglected vineyard and replanted it. This proved to be a wise decision; the strong soil gave the new plants great strength and richness, and in 2003, the first Blason d'Aussieres Corbieres was produced. International grape varieties, Syrah, Grenache, Carignan, and Mourvèdre, are used. Since its first bottling, Blason d'Aussieres has gained international acclaim and received numerous wine awards. It is with great pride that it now bears the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) label.
Full and very powerful this Blason d'Aussieres
Yes, we can only say that this wine is fantastic for the price. The original plan was to release this wine in 2006, but the 2003 harvest was so good that they wanted to share it with the world. And thankfully so, because this wine sells out every year! This vintage is truly special, and you can clearly see how this Blason D'Aussieres Corbieres Lafite Rothschild has been further developed over the years. After being hand-harvested, this red wine from Lafite Rothschild is aged for 12 months in oak barrels. This is an important period because it develops a powerful, full-bodied flavor. You can clearly tell that this Blason D'Aussieres was made by the Lafite Rothschild winery. The wine is classic, full-bodied, and powerful! The wine has a deep, dark red color. A characteristic aroma of spices like pepper and bay leaf, aromatic plants from the garrigue, red fruit, and a hint of smokiness. Elegant flavor with subtle tannins.
