The personal wines of Bodega Pirineos
Bodega Pirineos is located in the Somontano region, which means "below the mountains" and refers to the nearby Pyrenees. Bodega Pirineos' vineyards comprise a mosaic of small plots nestled in the heart of Somontano. These are the oldest vineyards in the Somontano DO, where century-old vines of native grape varieties grow and are tended by fourth-generation winemakers. A large portion of this area is planted with native grape varieties, including Macabeo, Moristel, and Parraleta, which contribute to the characteristic character of the region's wines. The remainder of the vineyards are devoted to growing national and European grape varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, and Chardonnay.
The Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer vineyards are located between Barbastro and Salas, at an altitude of approximately 600 meters above sea level. The Chardonnay vineyards are cultivated on chalky loam soils on slabs of marl or sandstone, while the Gewürztraminer thrives on deeper clay-loam soils. The Pirineos 3404 is a wine that reflects the harmonious relationship between these two grape varieties. It is named after Pico de Aneto, the highest mountain in the Pyrenees at 3,404 meters.
The aroma and taste of Bodega Pirineos 3404 Chardonnay
The Pirineos 3404 Chardonnay has a pale yellow color with green hues in the glass. The aroma of this wine is very interesting thanks to the combination of Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer. It has citrus aromas of lime and lemon that mingle with hints of orange blossom, white chocolate, vanilla, melon, and mint. The combination of Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer creates a fine complexity that gives the wine extra finesse. The palate is fresh yet simultaneously full-bodied and deep. The aromatic harmony ensures a long finish.
