The beginning of Bodega Roda
Bodega Roda was founded in 1987 by Mario Rotllant and Carmen Daurella. They arrived in La Rioja with the firm intention of creating a project capable of bringing something new to the world of winemaking. This is where an ambitious, vigorous, and unprecedented adventure began. Construction of the winery began four years after its founding and finished in 2001. The facilities were tailored to the needs of Roda wines. In 1992, the winery released its first vintage, and since then, the quality of production has been its top priority. Roda manages 28 top vineyards, all purchased after research into terroir and ecosystems. Each year, only the best grapes are harvested and selected from just 17 of the 28 vineyards. This guarantees the highest quality. Old vines between thirty and ninety years old are used.
Bodega Roda 1 Reserva Rioja with an impressive aroma
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled French oak barrels. The wine is then aged for sixteen months in 50% new and 50% used French oak barrels. Finally, the wine is bottle-aged for another twenty months. This Roda 1 Reserva Rioja has an impressive aroma; we noted notes of black fruit, vanilla, black pepper, cherry, and much more. The palate is a feast for the eyes, full and complex, with abundant fruit notes of cherry and blackberry. You can also easily detect a hint of vanilla and spice typical of a true Rioja. The finish is long and complex. Bodegas Roda wines have won numerous awards and received high ratings in tastings worldwide.
