Bodegas Roda's latest wine adventure. That's what we can truly call this delicious Corimbo. The 2010 vintage is the second of Corimbo I and was truly a top year for this wine. Corimbo is a botanical term. When the thistle flower blooms horizontally, we call it a Corimbo. This wine owes its name to this, as a Corimbo is said to be quite rare. Just like this wine. The Roda La Horra Corimbo 1 comes from the golden mile in the Ribera del Duero valley.

Roda is one of the top wine producers

Bodegas Roda, a Spanish winery, is one of the most representative wineries in Rioja Alta. Thanks to its innovative approach and associated philosophy, the winery is now among the top wine producers. Mario Rotllant and Carmen Daurella founded this winery together in the late 1980s, establishing their base in the legendary train station district of Haro. Their goal was to conquer the wine world with a new and modern concept. Together with a technical team, they developed this goal and have sparked a major innovation movement. The winery now produces four wines: Sela, Roda, Roda I, and Cirsion. In 2006, the Roda winery began the La Horra project, and two years later, the first vintage was vinified. After careful selection of the grapes, the wine undergoes maceration in stainless steel tanks. This is followed by malolactic fermentation in casks. Finally, the Corimbo 1 is aged for another fourteen months in 80% French and 20% American oak.

A top model from Bodegas La Horra

The Corimbo I is Bodegas La Horra's flagship model. It has a deep red color and youthful aromas of blueberry. The Corimbo must be swirled in the glass to release its full aroma. A subtle spiciness emerges, but with no trace of barrel aging. Juicy on the palate, plenty of everything, and a grand attack. On the second sip, we notice more structure and depth, and the Ribera character unfolds more. Nevertheless, the Corimbo I possesses a certain Roda identity.
