Bolla Le Poiane Valpolicella Ripasso DOC Classico Superiore
Bolla knows better than anyone how to combine tradition and technique. This Ripasso is the perfect example: a wine with the elegant character of Valpolicella and the depth of Amarone. The name "Le Poiane" refers to the buzzards that circle above the vineyards, but this wine is anything but light.
Vineyards and region – the heart of Valpolicella Classico
The grapes for this Ripasso grow on limestone slopes in the Classico region of Valpolicella. Thanks to the microclimate of cool nights and warm days, the grapes develop a perfect balance of freshness, concentration, and aromatic complexity. The vines are on average 20 years old and yield grapes with great expression.
Vinification and maturation – second life via Amarone
After primary fermentation, the wine is fermented again on the skins left over from Amarone production. This traditional Ripasso method gives the wine more body, structure, and an extra layer of aromas. It is then aged in oak barrels to give the wine its roundness and finesse.
Grape composition
70% Corvina and Corvinone, 30% Rondinella.
Tasting notes
Deep garnet red in color. The aroma opens with black cherries, jam, and a hint of cedar. The palate reveals cocoa, spices, and soft tannins, with a warm, silky mouthfeel and a refined finish.
Serving suggestions
Perfect with stews, game, or roasted meats. Also delicious with mature cheeses. Serve between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius.

De Grote Hamersma – 8.5 : "Sweet, ripe cherries, spice, calf leather tannins, and fine acidity. A Ripasso with character. Think of jugged hare or game ragout."
