We've known the Decordi family for a long time; they make fantastic wines and proseccos. But now they also produce top-class Franciacorta from northern Italy. Since 1921, the Decordi family has been active in Italian winemaking, and with great success. Initially, they produced only Lambrusco wines, but with the arrival of Quirico Decordi Junior in 1973, the winery took a major step toward producing the finest wines. In 2005, the fourth generation took over the family winery, and the wines and proseccos are still made with great love and dedication. In recent years, the winery has also invested heavily in numerous projects, focusing on new and modern winemaking techniques and maintaining the beautiful vineyards, including Franciacorta DOCG.
The sparkling wine of Borgo Imperiale
For this wine, we travel to northern Italy, specifically to Lombardy in the Franciacorta DOCG region. This is where the Chardonnay grapes from which this Borgo Imperiale Franciacorta is made are grown. The old, thick vines are now producing a top-notch harvest. Full, thick bunches are achieved thanks to the perfect climate and the ancient soil structures. The grapes grow like no other, and the family is proud of that. The harvest is entirely hand-harvested to ensure that only usable bunches are used in this Franciacorta.
Full and very powerful this Franciacorta
Borgo Imperiale Franciacorta is a delicious and exceptionally affordable Franciacorta. The quality is superb. A beautifully refined mousse that immediately catches the eye as soon as this gem is poured. Fine bubbles rise to the surface in a beautiful, flowing motion. The aroma is wonderfully fresh yet rich. Delicate, elegant aromas of citrus fruit interspersed with scents of fresh blossom. The palate of Borgo Imperiale Franciacorta is full and powerful. Beautiful nuances of citrus fruit, blossom, and a touch of almond, combined with a soft, slightly sweet finish, make this Franciacorta a gem for all.
