What a wine, this Cabernet Sauvignon Tasca d'Almerita. It should age for at least 10 years! This is the flagship winery of the Tasca d'Almerita estate. A refined, well-proportioned Cabernet Sauvignon, full-bodied and rich. Known for their exceptionally refined offerings, Sicilian Tasca d'Almerita wines are a classic must-have for any wine lover. The Regaleali Estate has gained international acclaim and has put the spotlight on Sicily's underrated ability to create meaningful and critically important wines.
Wine growing in the dry hills of Sicily
The Regaleali vineyards are nestled in the heart of the Sicilian hills. At first, you might expect a dry environment, but nothing could be further from the truth. The estate covers 500 hectares, with 320 hectares reserved for vines. A unique irrigation system provides the essential water. This is the only way grapes can be grown here. This success is partly due to the altitude of the vineyards. Nights don't cool down by the sea, while high in the mountains it's a completely different story. At an altitude of 450 to 700 meters above sea level, the nighttime temperatures are pleasantly cool. This allows the grapes to develop distinctive fruity aromas.
The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are sourced from hills at an altitude of 600 meters. The low yields give the wine exceptional power and concentration. After hand-harvesting, fermentation takes place on the skins for two weeks, giving the wine its strength and dark red color. This is followed by 12 months of oak aging.
The aroma and taste of Tasca Cabernet Sauvignon
This Cabernet Sauvignon has an intense red color with garnet reflections in the glass. The aroma is full and powerful, with a bouquet of southern spices, oak like cedar, and abundant cassis. But also, tobacco and bay leaf. The flavor of this Cabernet Sauvignon Tasca d'Almerita is complex and full-bodied—we could even call it a powerful wine! Impressions of fig, plum, black fruit, cedar, vanilla, and spices like cinnamon and bay leaf. Tremendous length!
