We also consider it a gold-medal-worthy port, and it has captured our hearts. The Tinta Roriz and Touriga Nacional grapes are hand-harvested on the steep slopes of the Douro region. The bunches are transported to Calem in small crates, where the grapes are pressed. After vinification, the port wine is aged in oak barrels. Calem's winemakers blend the wines for several years to achieve a balanced port. The average age of the port is 10 years, and you can taste the difference.

Port house Cálem Porto was founded in 1859 by António Alves Cálem. Since its inception, it has invested considerable time and energy in producing high-quality Port wines at very reasonable prices. This has resulted in high market recognition and several international awards. Calem Porto is the market leader in Portugal. There isn't a single store in Portugal that sells drinks without Calem in its selection. The familiar look of the bottles is also recognizable worldwide. We were therefore quite surprised that the labels were gradually getting a new look. But, once again, the recognizability of these beautiful bottles is optimal!

Phew, where to begin? As soon as you pour this 10-Year-Old Tawny, you'll see its beautiful brownish color with red highlights. This color is typical of a 10-Year-Old Port. The aroma offers lovely nuances of violet, roasted nuts, plums, chocolate, and currants. The palate is full and complex with plenty of dried fruit, powerful notes of currants, vanilla, and cocoa. The taste is velvety smooth and incredibly elegant with a wonderfully long finish. For the perfect experience, stock up on some aged cheese, light some candles, and watch a good movie.
