The passion for winemaking runs in the Luccarelli family's blood. Years ago, they embarked on their adventure with a specific philosophy. The most important thing is to master the three key elements of Puglia's winemaking tradition: sun, sea, and passion. These are the three essential elements that allow for the production of fantastic wines. This has been very beneficial for the Luccarelli winery, putting Southern Italian wines on the map. It has also shown that more can be made than just easy, smooth wines. This Luccarelli Campo Marino Primitivo di Manduria is a prime example: a wine with depth and richness.
Wood aging for the Luccarelli Campo Marino
The Primitivo di Manduria grapes are grown on old vines that are between 20 and 40 years old. The plants are planted as so-called Bush Wines. This means the plants are allowed to grow freely and are planted separately in the ground. Not in a line, as we often see, but more like bushes. The harvest from this technique is fuller and more powerful, and this, combined with the age and location of the vineyard, makes it a success. The plants are located near the ocean and therefore receive plenty of cooling, which explains the name of this wine, "Campo Marino." When the Primitivo grapes are ripe, they are harvested entirely by hand and individually inspected. The black juice is then aged for 8 to 10 months in both French and American oak barrels in the Luccarelli cellars. Yes, then we have a wine to write home about, so beautiful!
Full and very powerful this Primitivo di Manduria from Campo Marino
What a full-bodied wine this Campo Marino is, made from the Primitivo di Manduria grape. This Campo Marino Luccarelli is one of the Lucarelli wineries' most powerful wines, and beloved by many wine lovers! On the nose, we discovered hints of ripe plum, vanilla, cedar, black fruit, and much more. The palate is a true oak-aged Primitivo di Manduria, full and creamy with plenty of flavor and softness. A beautiful black fruit bouquet and abundant notes of vanilla, oak, chocolate, and plum. This Campo Marino Luccarelli is a superb wine: we can't say anything else about it.
