Albana Secco Romagne is made from the Albana grape of the same name. The Albana variety is strongly linked to Romagna tradition and the region. While it's not the most well-known white grape variety, it was the first white wine in Italy to receive the DOCG designation in 1987. Many sweet versions are made from the Albana grape, but Poderi dal Nespoli only makes a secoo, a dry wine.

The ancient and rare grape variety Albana

The founding of this winery goes back almost a century. In 1929, in a part of Romagna between the Apennines and the sea, Attilio Ravaioli planted the rows of vines on the first vineyard he purchased in the village of Nespoli. Since then, the vineyard has grown to 110 hectares. They specialize in small-scale Sangiovese production, but have recently also been reviving some forgotten grape varieties, such as Famoso and Bombino Bianco. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed. In 2006, Poderi dal Nespoli received "Tre Bicchieri," the highest award from the Italian wine magazine Gambero Rosso. The location of the vineyards and the valley's geography contribute to a microclimate that is particularly ideal for viticulture. The winery prioritizes respect for the environment, including the reuse of water and heat. We've seen or heard something about this grape variety ourselves. Albana is an ancient, rare grape variety that occasionally appears in Emilia-Romagna, Lombardy, and Liguria. With this Campodora, the Poderi dal Nespoli winery is breathing new life into it. And the result is impressive!

A full and fruity Campodora Romagna Albana Secco

This delicious white wine from the Nespolino winery boasts the characteristic deep yellow color of the Romagna grape. It offers beautiful aromas of apricot, banana, flowers, and a subtle hint of citrus. The palate is full-bodied and fruity, with delicate notes of peach, a touch of vanilla, and blossom. The long finish gives this Campodora Romagna Albana Secco a wonderful finish. It pairs perfectly with fish dishes and risotto.
