Cantine Cellaro is often called the "wonderkind" (child prodigy). This is largely due to the area where its grapes are grown. Sicily's wine region is considered a natural habitat where wine has been cultivated for centuries. In Cantine Cellaro's vineyards, you'll feel like you're in paradise, surrounded by magnificent mountains, Lake Arancio, and stunning scenery. It's truly one of Sicily's most beautiful spots. Today, Cantine Cellaro is part of Farnese Vini, a group of wineries that support each other in preserving Italian heritage. Besides this, the winemakers share their experiences and provide each other with the right support in winemaking. And yes, that's clearly reflected in this red wine.

The vineyard in Sambuca di Sicilia

The vineyard for this red wine, the Cantine Cellaro, is located in Sambuca di Sicilia. Here, the Nerello and Nero D'Avola grapes grow in a perfect climate. The vineyards extend over an altitude of 300 to 600 meters above sea level. This allows the grapes to be strongly influenced by the sun, which ripens them easily. The wind that blows across the vineyards is also important for the strength of the grapes. It helps the grapes retain their natural freshness and ripens slowly and evenly. Because the wine is close to the moon, it is named after the moon, namely Due Lune. This is not only because of the strength the grapes gain during the night, but also because the grapes are harvested manually at night. Before this, however, the harvest is dried by the sun. This technique, the Appasimento technique, is also used for the premium Amarone wine. This is why this wine is also called the Amarone of Sambuca di Sicilia.

Wood aging for the Cantine Cellaro Due Lune

Once the bunches have dried to at least 15 to 20 percent on the vine, they are harvested at night. The moon provides its light, making the harvest easy. The bunches are transported in small crates to Cantine Cellaro. Here, they are inspected, and the resulting black juice is then aged in oak barrels for six months. It gains strength and finesse, becoming one of the island's finest wines.

Full and very powerful this Due Lune Nerello Nero D'Avola

Pouring this red wine reveals a beautiful deep red color with a purple sheen. It smells of the finest Italian notes, such as ripe blackberries, Italian herbs, pink peppercorn, and a touch of leather and cocoa. On the palate, it caresses the tongue with soft flavors of blackberries and cherries complemented by spices and cedarwood. On the cheeks, it offers a considerable amount of spice, such as cinnamon and bay leaf. Later, as this wine settles on the palate, an explosion of licorice, dark chocolate, and a touch of fresh figs unfolds. The finish is both powerful and pure.
