Nestled amidst the Spanish landscape, specifically in the heart of the Cariñena, a historic area in the Spanish region of Aragon, stands the beautiful winery Bodegas Añadas. Established in 1932, it is one of Spain's oldest family-run wineries. It was Mr. Añadas who wanted to combine his love of wine and his love of art in a single wine. He more than succeeded, commissioning artist Enrique Torrijos to design his labels. Each label reveals a glimpse into the wine's essence, which is truly delightful. Over the years, the entire family has contributed to the success of Care Wine, a culmination of which is the third generation now at the helm. Significant investment has been made in new and modern techniques without losing sight of tradition. This is clearly reflected in the mature style of all the wines.
Care XCLNT's eighty-year-old vineyard
For this excellent top wine, years of hard work went into the region to obtain the finest grapes. That's why the label says "Seleccion Especial," because that's exactly what it is. The vineyards are up to eighty years old, producing truly the very best grapes. For this Seleccion Especial, 40% Garnacha and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon are used, with the remainder being supplemented with Syrah. Each vineyard is unique and produces a beautiful harvest, thanks in part to the rich climate. Once ripe, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand and subject to strict controls. Only the finest grapes are placed in small crates and transported to Bodega Añadas.
Wood aging for the Care XCLNT Seleccion Especial
After pressing, this red Care XCLNT wine undergoes a wood aging of no less than sixteen months in the cellars of Bodega Añadas. During this period, the wine is transferred four times to another barrel to obtain fuller and more powerful flavors. All barrels are made of French oak and that gives its hallmark to this powerful red wine. The nose is a fairytale book, many aromas of ripe black fruits, burnt toast, balsamic and some vanilla. That promises something and when pouring this red wine we see a very dark color. The taste is full and very complex with ripe nuances of cherries and blackberries complemented by herbs, vanilla, oak, chocolate, coffee grounds and much more.
