The Rioja wine region is truly one of Spain's most famous wine regions and has existed for many years. Carlos Serres, originally from France, discovered the wine region during his travels around the world. He was amazed by the climate and terroir of the Rioja region and compared it to the finest Bordeaux vineyards. He left his French homeland and purchased a vineyard in Haro (Rioja Alta district), then a very prosperous and influential Spanish city. He worked diligently to produce the finest wines, and this is still evident today in the rich flavors and aromas of Carlos Serres.

The vineyards are now mature, which is a testament to the quality of the harvest. Small bunches with incredibly rich flavors are the result. Tempranillo is primarily planted, but also some Garnacha, Mazuelo, and the white Viura grapes are planted. This is to enhance the depth and richness of the Rioja wines. This red Carlos Serres Rioja Old Vines is made exclusively from Tempranillo grapes. These grapes grow on the oldest vines, which are over fifty years old. The entire Tempranillo harvest is hand-harvested, ensuring that only the finest bunches are used in this red wine. After pressing, it undergoes a light oak aging process, allowing the wine to mature and acquire beautiful oak notes.
The aroma and taste of the Carlos Serres Tempranillo
This 'Old Vines' is a special Rioja because the grapes come from vines at least 50 years old. This gives the wine depth, length, and complexity, while the subtle barrel aging adds refinement and roundness. The dark color reflects the wine's depth, and the rim of the glass reveals a light ruby red, revealing the subtle barrel aging. The aroma immediately reveals dark forest fruit, a touch of spice, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, this is complemented by a rich, complex flavor with beautiful balance and a long finish.
