The centuries-old winery Casa Ferreirinha

Casa Ferreirinha is an excellent winery that represents the beautiful flavors of Douro wines. It is the legacy of A.A. Ferreira and is one of the historic wineries that has been trading since 1751. Dona Antonia Ferreira was the face of the company at that time, and with her exceptional vision, she created new possibilities with the terraced vineyards. Ferreirinha was her nickname, hence the name of the winery. The house is synonymous with creative and exemplary viticultural and winemaking practices. Today, this traditional house is owned by Sogrape, the largest wine producer in Portugal. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness. Upon arrival at the Sogrape Vinhos winery in Vila Real, the grapes are destemmed and gently crushed before being fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius for approximately 20 days. After this, 20 percent of the wine is aged for three months in used barriques, with the remainder aged in stainless steel tanks.

The Planalto Douro Reserva has a bright color with greenish hints. It has a very intense and complex bouquet of white fruit (melon and pear), tropical fruit (apricot and passion fruit), and some mineral notes. The palate is very harmonious and pleasant in the mouth, with fruity and mineral flavors. It has a long and delicate finish.
