If you love full, robust, and abundant blackcurrant fruit, you've found a new friend. This Casa Silva Cabernet Sauvignon from the Los Lingues vineyard is a masterpiece by Mario Geisse. He wanted to create a Cabernet Sauvignon comparable to a top-notch Bordeaux, and Mario has succeeded. The old vineyard, located near the Andes Mountains, provides him with full, powerful bunches of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Thanks in part to the warm climate and the fresh breeze from the Andes, the vineyard gets everything it needs. Because the mountain is so important to the vineyard, it bears its name on the label: "Gran Terroir de los Andes."

Large temperature differences in the Los Lingues vineyard

This Gran Terroir Cabernet Sauvignon is made from the first vineyard ever planted at the foot of the Andes in Colchagua, near Los Lingues. It is an extremely dry terroir with a unique microclimate. The vineyard has a unique alluvial-colluvial soil, which also results in exceptionally large temperature differences between day and night. Daytime temperatures are much higher than on the coast, but the mountain winds and the altitude cool the vineyard considerably in the afternoon and evening. This makes this vineyard particularly suitable for Cabernet Sauvignon.

The old vineyard of Casa Silva Cabernet Sauvignon Los Lingues

The old vineyard is called Los Lingues, and this is also stated on the label. It is a Single Vineyard, and you can clearly taste its beautiful structure. When the Cabernet grapes reach perfect ripeness, they are harvested by hand and transported to the press in small crates. This is followed by a culminating 12 months of aging in French barrels. In the Casa Silva cellars, the wine is stored in full wooden barrels where it can mature undisturbed, and only when it has reached sufficient strength is it bottled. The aroma reveals impressions of ripe red fruit with notes of black pepper and hints of tobacco. The palate is powerful, with abundant blackcurrant fruit and a richness of spice, cedarwood, vanilla, tobacco, and black pepper.
