Juicy Sauvignon Blanc from Northern Italy. It thrives exceptionally well on the slopes along the Adige Valley. Thanks to the unique climate with its distinct temperature variations, this clear, cava-like wine gains aromatic finesse. Refined varietal character with a subtle Trentino character is what distinguishes the Castel Firmian wine line. The grapes come exclusively from our own DOC vineyards and are vinified in one of the most modern wineries in the region.
2400 hectares of Mezzacorona vineyards
The renowned Trentino winery Mezzacorona is one of the largest wine producers in Italy. This cooperative was founded in 1904 and is now synonymous with a large group of wineries that prioritizes value for money. The name Mezzacorona quickly brings to mind Trentino. There, and in neighboring Alto Adige, this winery owns over 2,400 hectares of vineyards. Mezzacorona's range is quite diverse. The Trentino-Alto Adige region is located in northern Italy and therefore consists of two areas. The German-speaking Alto Adige is not considered an Italian region by many Italians. Because the Trentino-Alto Adige wine region consists primarily of mountains, it is a challenging area for winegrowing, but the wines are of sublime quality.
The grapes are harvested by hand, followed by traditional vinification. The skins are briefly exposed to the cold to enhance the wine's structure and richness. This is followed by a temperature-controlled fermentation at approximately 16 to 18 degrees Celsius.
What does the Castel Firmian Sauvignon Blanc taste like?
This South Tyrolean Sauvignon Blanc combines a variety of notes of green pepper, elderberry, gooseberry, asparagus, and tomato leaf in its bouquet. On the palate, this spicy white wine from the central Trentino hills along the Adige River is fresh and pleasantly acidic. The straw-yellow wine pairs well with fish dishes such as smoked and grilled fish. The Castel Firmian Sauvignon Blanc is also a good choice with white meat and polenta with medium-matured cheese.
