Producer Castles of Severino
Varietal(s) Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese

After a bit of research, we discovered that Castelli di Severino is part of the large and renowned Teanum winery. Now we understand the beautiful quality of this red wine, as the producer is none other than winemaker Donato Antonio Giuliani. He knows better than anyone how to handle the local grape varieties and the climate of southern Italy. In recent years, Castelli di Severino has invested heavily in the area, including a new winery, extensive time spent on the vineyards, and state-of-the-art winemaking techniques. With these excellent qualities, Castelli di Severino produces exquisite wines while preserving Italian traditions, including this red Cabernet Sangiovese.

The harvest of the Cabernet and Sangiovese

This gem is made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese grapes from Puglia. This region is influenced by the Adriatic Sea. It's a fertile region, yet warm and dry. This results in a warm wine with plenty of fruit! The vineyard itself is situated at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level, allowing the Cabernet and Sangiovese to receive sufficient coolness. This is crucial because this blend of coolness and warmth allows the grapes to create a top-quality wine.

The aroma and taste of the red Castelli di Severino wine

Soft, soft, and even softer—that's what we first noticed when tasting this red Castelli di Severino. Upon opening the bottle, we immediately smelled the Italian sun, abundant black fruit, and hints of plum. Pouring revealed a ruby red color, primarily thanks to the Sangiovese grape. The aroma reveals abundant cassis fruit from the Cabernet Sauvignon and light, spicy notes from the Sangiovese. A good swirl of the glass also reveals nuances of plums and berries. The palate is incredibly smooth, with abundant ripe fruit and just the right amount of spice to round out this red wine.
