Vintage Report

The sun ensured a slow ripening of the grapes, while the wind from the ocean provided the necessary cooling to maintain freshness. This resulted in even ripening and excellent quality for the 2024 harvest.

The Castelli di Severino winery is part of Teanum, a well-known name in the Apulia wine region. Now we know why this white wine is so special, especially at this price point. The winery has invested heavily in Castelli di Severino, including a completely renovated, modern winery. But of course, the ancient traditions of Italian craftsmanship are preserved. Donato Antonio Giuliani, the winemaker at Castelli di Severino, is especially proud of the vineyards; after all, that's where it all begins, he explains. Choosing the best locations with the right grapes paved the way to success. Well, leave that to him, because he has so much knowledge, not only of winemaking but also of the world-famous Puglia wine region.

The old Trebbiano and Falanghina vineyard of Castelli di Severino

The vineyards for this white Severino wine are situated at an altitude of 200 meters above sea level. This is crucial for its exceptionally high quality. The sun slowly ripens the Trebbiano and Falanghina grapes, and the ocean breeze provides a cooling breeze. This coolness is necessary for even ripening and a certain freshness in the grapes. A full 100 points from us, as this is a textbook example of a high-quality Puglian wine. The grapes are harvested at the foot of the Gargano hills and around the town of San Severino, making it immediately clear where this white wine gets its name.

What does Castelli di Severino white wine taste like?

We've often wondered how this white Castelli di Severino can be achieved at this price point. This combination is perfect for a superb white wine with a rich, rich flavor. A soft yellow color combines with a rich aroma of ripe yellow fruit and a hint of citrus peel. The back of the nose reveals notes of red apple and a hint of mango. The palate is very smooth, with a richness of fresh yellow fruit like apricots, peach, and mango. On the palate, nuances of lime, fresh mint, and a hint of gooseberry. What a gem from Puglia!
