The Champagne Boizel Brut Réserve is a refined non-vintage Champagne for festive occasions, a generous aperitif, and dishes where freshness, finesse, and depth must come together. This cuvée is the house's calling card, with a blend of the 3 classic Champagne grapes, 40% reserve wines, and 3 years of aging on the lees. This directly aligns with the term Brut. What does Brut mean in Champagne? It stands for a dry style, where a limited dosage keeps the wine crisp without making it harsh.
Vineyards and region
The basis of this Champagne lies in a broad, precise selection of origins within the appellation.
- Location / Origin: The grapes for Brut Réserve come from approximately 30 different crus in Champagne. This gives the house ample room to carefully combine freshness, structure, and roundness.
- Regional context: Champagne is a strictly demarcated appellation in Northern France, with approximately 34,300 hectares and 319 villages also referred to as crus. This broad but strictly limited region is the only origin from which true Champagne may come.
Vinification and aging
Here, everything revolves around precision in blending, aging, and texture.
- Fermentation: Only first-press juice is used for this cuvée. In Champagne, this is called the cuvée, the most refined part of the pressing, which suits a wine built on finesse.
- Aging / Wood aging: 40% of the blend consists of reserve wines from the 2 previous harvests, stored in tanks, of which 4% of reserve wines have been aged in foudres. This gives the wine more depth, extra layers, and a softer, broader mid-palate structure.
- Bottle aging: The wine ages for 3 years on the lees. This refines the mousse and gives the Champagne more complexity and length.
Grape composition
The blend is classically structured and precisely shows what the house aims for: elegance, structure, and fruit in balance.
- 40% Pinot Noir – Champagne: Pinot Noir gives the wine its finesse and foundational structure.
- 35% Chardonnay – Champagne: Chardonnay brings floral elegance and extra precision to the blend.
- 25% Meunier – Champagne: Meunier provides fruit, roundness, and a smoother initial taste.
Tasting notes and serving suggestions
Clear straw yellow in the glass, with a fine, light mousse and beautifully rising bubbles. The nose opens fresh and expressive with white blossoms, white peach, apricot, citrus, and a subtle hint of patisserie. On the palate, this Champagne is soft and seductive, with candied pear, acacia honey, and a rich, lingering finish.
- Serving temperature: 8–10 °C works best here, as this range preserves the freshness and fine mousse while allowing enough space for its breadth and complexity.
- Food pairings: Seafood and grilled fish pair beautifully, while it also truly shines as a generous aperitif.
Accolades
- 4.0 stars, Vivino: With over 5200+ reviews, this Champagne consistently pleases a wide audience.
