For five years, the Champagne under the Fleur de Miraval label was quietly developed. This new rosé Champagne was created by a distinguished cast of winemakers, including Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, co-owners of Château Miraval in Provence. Brad Pitt quickly took the lead in developing this Fleur de Miraval; he wanted to create a rosé Champagne that proudly bears the name "Exclusivement Rosé." He described his quest as an authentic project. His work was first offered on October 15, 2020. The wait was worth it, because this is truly a masterpiece.

The collaboration with the Péters family

When the idea of developing their own Champagne came to the owners of Château Miraval, they contacted none other than the Péters family. They are no strangers to France's finest Champagnes. Based in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, the Péters family is internationally renowned for its Champagnes. Their flagship is the Blanc de Blancs style, which they have been producing from their own grapes since 1919. "Fleur de Miraval is the result of five years of work, research, and tasting. All in the utmost secrecy," says Rodolphe Péters, who now runs his family's estate, which currently owns 40 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards.

The composition of Champagne Fleur de Miraval

For this so-called Exclusivement Rosé, beautiful Chardonnay grapes are used. A small amount of Pinot Noir is also added, giving it its beautiful light pink color. The method used to produce this Champagne is called rosé de saignée, a technique rarely used in Champagne and reserved for the finest Champagnes. It's the same method used to produce Provence rosé at Miraval, thus providing a significant nod to Provence.

Only 20 thousand bottles available

It's a true Exclusivement Rosé, with only twenty thousand bottles produced annually for the entire world. But before that happens, Champagne Fleur de Miraval matures for a remarkable 36 months in the stunning cellars of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Everything comes together in this bottle of rosé, as all the families work closely together and share their expertise, resulting in a truly premium Champagne region.

Champagne Fleur de Miraval Rose is lacquered

The bottle of Champagne Fleur de Miraval Exclusivement Rosé looks stunning. The exterior is varnished to protect the exquisite juice from UV light. This way, the refined juice retains all its qualities, just as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie intended. It's a joy to open and highly exclusive, as only a few bottles are coming to the Netherlands. The celebration begins with pouring this Fleur de Miraval Rosé, a beautiful light pink with a red shimmer. The most beautiful aromas emerge from the glass, and we noted nuances of strawberry, raspberry, grapefruit, and lime. The taste is a true experience; the soft bubbles give the palate an elegant sensation. You also discover hints of ripe red fruit and light notes of roasted nuts and lime. The lingering, powerful flavor is very refined, and we recognize plenty of minerals, citrus fruit, and a touch of vanilla. What a feast this is, and the Pitt family and Péters are more than proud of the result.
