Producer Langlois

Nestled in the heart of the Loire wine region, specifically in the Sancerre appellation, lies the beautiful Château de Fontaine Audon. This winery is part of the Langlois family and was founded by none other than Jacques Bollinger. And yes, you read that right, the Champagne producer is also active in the Loire region. The winery first saw the light of day in 1885 and has since become world-renowned. The winery is proud to bear the organic label for "production viticole raisonnée," which means cultivating wine with great respect and attention to nature.

The old vineyard of Chateau de Fontaine Audon

This Sancerre from Château de Fontaine Audon is made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc grapes sourced from the oldest vineyards around the Château in St. Gemme. This is the best place for the grapes to shine, as the vineyards enjoy an excellent climate. Plenty of sunshine combined with a refreshing breeze ensures a slow and gentle harvest. This allows the Sauvignon Blanc grapes to mature slowly and evenly, absorbing everything from the nutrient-rich soil. The soil composition, consisting primarily of flint and limestone, gives this Sancerre its unique character. Once the harvest is ripe, all the bunches are harvested by hand, individually inspected, and only the finest are selected for the pressing of this white wine.

Excellent and pure this Chateau de Fontaine Audon Sancerre

Opening the bottle set off all our alarm bells: what a pure aroma of citrus and minerals it immediately releases. Pouring into a large glass reveals a beautiful, clear color with a green sheen. Nosing the glass reveals a broad bouquet of grapefruit, minerals, fresh green herbs, and a touch of ripe apple and pear. The fresh, vibrant aroma continues on the palate, with a lovely acidity on the palate, hints of lime zest, and vibrant notes of passion fruit. The beautifully rounded and refined finish completes the experience, making it a true gem for Sancerre lovers.
