The perfect climate for Chateau de Meursault wines
The origins of the Château de Meursault winery date back to the 11th century and have had many owners over the years. The estate is known as one of the finest in Burgundy, France. The vineyards span 60 hectares in the Côte de Beaune region, located in the villages of Aloxe-Corton, Savigny-Lès-Beaune, Corton, Beaune, Volnay, Pommard, Meursault, and Puligny-Montrachet. The wines are vinified in impressive cellars dating back to the 12th, 14th, and 16th centuries. These cellars have a capacity of 2,000 barrels.
Only the very best grapes, hand-picked from the vineyards, arrive in these wine cellars. The quality of the grapes is partly due to the soil. It is rich in limestone and well-drained, creating a rich terroir. The climate also plays a significant role in viticulture. Thanks to their eastern location, the vineyards are protected from the wind by the western slopes. Furthermore, there is a significant temperature difference between day and night, so the cold at night drives the heat out of the vineyards. Ideal for the ripening process.
