This beautiful château in the Rhône belongs to the Quiot family, a well-known name in the south of France. The family grew up in the Cotes de Provence, where their pride and joy, Domaine Houchart, is located. But the family wanted more and to demonstrate that winemaking is simply in their blood. So they purchased numerous vineyards in their second love, the Rhône Valley. With the purchase of Château du Trignon in the Gigondas region, the family was the proud owner of a classic and powerful Gigondas. Significant investment in Château du Trignon has resulted in a dramatic increase in quality. We can now taste all of this in the ripe aroma and palate, while retaining those classic notes.

Wood aging for the Gigondas

This red wine is made from very old vines in Gigondas. The grapes used for this wine are Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah, which complement each other perfectly. The vineyards comprise three terroirs, ranging from alluvial to sandstone soils, giving it its full, classic flavor. Each bunch is harvested separately, entirely by hand. Each grape variety is pressed separately, after which the winemaker at Château du Trignon creates the blend for this red Gigondas. A portion of the wine is aged in oak barrels, making it considerably fuller and creamier.

Full and very powerful this Chateau du Trignon Gigondas

Upon pouring, we see a beautiful ruby-red color. It truly oozes aromas from the glass, offering hints of blackberry, cherry, cassis fruit, and, of course, mocha, wood, and clove. On the palate, it's full-bodied and powerful, with initial notes of blackberry and mocha. Let the beautiful juice roll over the tongue for a moment, revealing hints of truffle, vanilla, spices, and licorice. This red wine pairs perfectly with dishes such as game, stews, and truffle-based dishes.
