Blason de l'Évangile 2020 – Elegant power from Pomerol
Blason de l'Évangile is the second wine from Château l'Évangile, located on the famous Pomerol plateau on Bordeaux's Right Bank. The 2020 vintage is an accessible and refined wine, sourced from lighter clay-sand soils that create an elegant, fruit-driven style.
Vineyards and region: Pomerol, Bordeaux
The grapes for Blason de l'Évangile come from plots with clay-sand and loamy soils with a clayey subsoil. These terroirs offer deep root development and regular water supply. Combined with the mild, warm growing season of 2020, this results in a wine that is supple, refined, and ideal in its youth.
Vinification and grape varieties
The blend consists of 87% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled concrete vats with gentle pumping over to promote extraction. Afterward, 80% of the wine is aged for 16 months in single-vineyard French oak barrels, while the remaining 20% is aged in barrels for malolactic fermentation.
Tasting notes: spices, fresh fruit and silky tannins
The color is deep with garnet reflections. The nose reveals notes of spices like cinnamon and cardamom , followed by ripe red fruit . Blackberries and raspberries emerge on the palate. The wine is lively and fresh, finishing with elegant, silky tannins .
