Domaines Ott Château Romassan AOC Bandol Rouge
Château Romassan is the Bandol estate of Domaines Ott, situated on a unique terroir of terraces, limestone, and marble. This red wine, dominated by Mourvèdre, is known for its aging potential, power, and refinement. It is one of the most prestigious wines from Provence, with a style that balances intensity and elegance.
Vineyards and region – powerful terroir in the heart of Bandol
The 90 hectares of vineyards are spread across eight communes within the AOC Bandol, partly in the valley and partly on higher terraces. The soils consist of marl and limestone, ideal for Mourvèdre. The grapes in the valley impart juicy freshness, while the higher-elevation grapes provide structure and depth. This contrast forms the basis of the complexity of Château Romassan Rouge.
Vinification and maturation – focus on balance and aging potential
After hand harvesting and sorting, the grapes are vinified separately. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by extended aging, partly in large wooden barrels. This gives the wines a silky-smooth structure with well-integrated tannins and aromatic depth that increases with bottle aging.
