Located in the commune of Saint-Émilion, France, Chateau Rozier is a highly renowned wine. Renowned winemakers Earl Vigne, Saby, and JB & Fils produce this exquisite red wine. The winery has approximately twenty-eight hectares of vineyards, primarily planted with old Merlot vines, but also with some Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. All vineyards are designated Grand Cru, or the very best quality. This is clearly reflected in the pure and powerful flavor of this Chateau Rozier. The old vines produce a top-notch harvest, thanks in part to the strong soil structure, which is rich in lime and clay. The old stems have deep roots, allowing them to withstand the hot summers.
Completely hand-harvested for this Chateau Rozier
The climate is unique to Saint-Émilion: abundant sunshine, cool winds from the Gironde estuary blowing through the vines, and limited rainfall during the growing season. This climate allows the grapes to ripen very evenly and are all harvested by hand. Each bunch is visually inspected, and only the finest are brought in. Harvest in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru region always takes place early in the morning to protect the grapes from oxidation and bruising during transport.
Wood aging for the Chateau Rozier Saint Emilion Grand Cru
Once the grapes are harvested, they are vinified and stored separately. Then it's time for the winemaker to do his work. He creates the perfect balance between the three grape varieties: for this vintage, it's 80 percent Merlot, 18 percent Cabernet Franc, and the remainder is made up with Cabernet Sauvignon. This Saint Emilion Grand Cru then matures for a full twelve months in oak barrels. Thirty percent of these are new and unused, giving this red wine its distinctive flavor. With truly exceptional value for money, it's no wonder this wine has been on the wine list of a major Dutch hotel chain for years.
Full and very powerful this Chateau Rozier wine
On the nose, this Château Rozier Saint Emilion Grand Cru offers impressions of red and black fruit, toast, and a hint of vanilla. A beautifully robust wine with refined flavors of plums, berries, blackberries, and a touch of vanilla. On the back of the palate, a delicate bouquet of light spices, woody notes, and coffee grounds.
