Cielo 1908 Bianco di Gio Bianco d'Italia
Bianco di Gio is an aromatic white wine from Famiglia Cielo's 1908 Signature Collection, created as a tribute to founder Giovanni Cielo, who created wines "alla moda di Venezia." Within this super-premium line, this is the house's most expressive white wine, with a striking balance of freshness, ripe fruit, and a refined, almost Mediterranean aroma. What makes Bianco di Gio so special? It's an iconic Italian blend that's both light and full-bodied, making it an impressive pairing for both summer drinks and dinner.
Vineyards and region
Cielo 1908 Bianco di Gio comes from Italy and bears the Bianco d'Italia appellation, giving the Cielo family the freedom to combine different regions. The Sauvignon Blanc comes from the north, from Veneto around Venice, where the cooler climate produces fresh acidity and pronounced aromatic precision. The Chardonnay comes from the warmer south of Italy, Puglia, where the grapes develop more richness, roundness, and sunny yellow fruit. Together, these origins form a "master white blend" within the 1908 Super Premium wines, in which the Cielo family has been demonstrating its experience and craftsmanship since 1908 in a recognizable, modern Italian style.
Vinification and maturation
For Bianco di Gio, Famiglia Cielo selects the finest batches of Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay that fulfill the vision of a powerful yet refined aromatic white wine. The grapes from Veneto and Puglia are vinified separately and then carefully blended into a single cuvée with the distinct signature of the house. The focus is on preserving the expressive fruit and floral notes, with a lively acidity that gives the wine tension and freshness. Bianco di Gio is meant to be enjoyed young and vital and is recommended between one and three years after the harvest to fully develop its aromatic intensity and fresh, juicy structure.
Grape composition
Sauvignon Blanc – Veneto
Sauvignon Blanc from northern Italy brings the aromatic lift, with notes of citrus, spiciness and fresh acidity that give the wine tension and energy.
Chardonnay – Puglia
Chardonnay from sunny Puglia adds ripe peach, yellow fruit and a fuller, rounder structure, giving Bianco di Gio a generous, mouth-filling style without losing its freshness.
Tasting notes and serving suggestions
In the glass, Cielo 1908 Bianco di Gio is a light straw yellow, with a bright, delicate color that heralds its fresh style. On the nose, this is Famiglia Cielo's most aromatic white wine, with expressive notes of ripe peach, citrus, and sun-ripe yellow fruit, subtly framed by white flowers. On the palate, the wine is full and enveloping, revealing the ripe fruit in a juicy style with distinct yet harmonious acidity and a crisp, fresh, and lingering finish. Serve Bianco di Gio well chilled, around 6-8°C, to best express its aromatic intensity and invigorating freshness. At the table, it pairs perfectly with bold dishes such as spicy Asian cuisine, rich fish dishes and shellfish, as well as classic Venetian specialties like baccalà alla vicentina or other flavorful fish dishes, which its expressive character perfectly complements.
