The Domaines Paul Mas winery was founded in 1892 by the Mas family, and today Jean-Claude Mas heads this large winery. Following the example of his ancestors, he has built the winery's reputation by respecting nature. Jean-Claude is a pioneer in the Languedoc's revival as a region for quality wines. He characterizes his wines as "Le Luxe Rural," or rural luxury. Using international grape varieties, he has given the Languedoc a "New World" allure. And with his fashionable wines made from local grapes, he has reinvigorated the local character of the Languedoc among wine lovers.
The harvest of the Claude Val Rosé
The vineyards for Claude Val's Rosé are located in the warm south of France, where the Mediterranean climate prevails. The soil in which the old vines grow mostly contains clay, gravel, and limestone, allowing the roots to dig deeply. This allows them to easily absorb moisture and withstand the hot summers. This rosé is made from Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah grapes, making it a stunning wine. The grapes are harvested in the early morning at perfect ripeness. Some are harvested by hand, and the rest by machine. This prevents damage to the bunches and prevents oxidation. When the grapes are pressed, the skins ferment for only 20 to 30 minutes, giving this rosé its beautiful light pink color.
How does the Rosé taste?
Anyone who didn't know better would think there was a Provence rosé in the glass. Its beautiful, light color is a surprise, but it doesn't stop there. The aroma is also a delight, with notes of cherry, citrus, and red flowers. The taste is wonderfully fresh with a delicate hint of red fruit. The perfect balance contributes to the success of this Claude Val Rosé. On the back of the palate, it offers hints of grapefruit, apple, and strawberry, rounding it all off perfectly. The finish is flavorful and wonderfully refreshing. Summer in your glass!
