Clos des Criots Pouilly Fume

Irénée Salmon, along with her sons, founded the winery with the goal of producing one of the finest wines from their beloved region. They became famous with Sancerre, but also have a small vineyard of just 3.25 hectares in Pouilly Fumé. This wine is called Clos des Criots, an elegant name derived from the vineyard itself. This vineyard, too, bears the name Clos des Criots and is located in the commune of Pouilly-sur-Loire. The soil structure makes both the grapes and the wine unique, with abundant oyster fossils and limestone, allowing this white Pouilly Fumé to shine like no other.

Today, this same family produces the wines of Domaine Christian Salmon, with their flagship wine still being the white Pouilly Fumé. The vineyards are home to very old stems that yield a small harvest, but the bunches harvested are outstanding. After a long and balanced growing season thanks to the perfect climate, they are harvested by hand. Each bunch is inspected, ensuring the resulting juice is exceptionally pure.

The result is a beautiful, ripe aroma of acacia flowers, with mineral notes and a hint of smoke that reveals the richness of this exceptional terroir.
