The Viognier grapes in the Les Terrasses series come from the slopes of the Montagne Noir. These slopes lie at an altitude of 200 to 400 meters, resulting in considerably cooler temperatures, resulting in a fruity and elegant wine.
Lorgeril wines with soft and supple aromas
Maison Lorgeril, a family-owned winery, was founded in 1620 in the south of France, between the Rhône Valley and the Pyrenees. Since 1987, Nicolas de Lorgeril, from a tenth-generation family of winemakers, and his wife, Miren de Saint Chamas, have expanded their estate beyond Château de Pennautier, the family's historic birthplace. Passionate about winemaking, they have selected the finest terroirs in the Languedoc and Roussillon regions (with chalky, brown and black slate, gneiss, and sandstone soils) at altitudes of 200 to 400 meters above sea level to mitigate the Mediterranean heat and sun, allowing for slow, organic ripening of the grapes and the development of soft and supple aromas.
This Viognier is grown on cooler, north-facing slopes at the foot of the Montagne Noir. The vines, planted in clay and chalky soils, are protected from the hot midday summer sun thanks to this altitude. This maintains a good acidity in the Viognier grapes, preserving their exuberant character. The grapes are tasted regularly to determine when they are ripe enough for harvest. They are then picked early in the morning and taken to the winery for immediate pressing. This preserves their fresh character.
The fresh character of Viognier Les Terrasses
The Viognier Les Terrasses has a powerful aroma with abundant fresh fruit aromas. Peach and passion fruit, along with some floral notes, are clearly evident. The palate is balanced, rich, creamy, and vibrant, with abundant citrus aromas. A fresh, fruity wine that should be enjoyed young for optimal enjoyment.
