The history of Contadi Castaldi began in the early 1980s, when a group of winemakers decided to join forces and focus on producing sparkling wines of exceptional quality. Since then, the winery has built a strong reputation for its dedication to excellence at every stage of the winemaking process. Contadi Castaldi utilizes modern techniques and traditional methods to produce wines of excellence.
Contadi Castaldi Franciacorta Brut is produced using the region's typical grape varieties: 80 percent Chardonnay, 10 percent Pinot Noir, and 10 percent Pinot Blanc. The grapes are harvested in late August and early September. After a soft pressing, they undergo alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with selected yeasts for approximately 20 days. Part of the wine then undergoes partial malolactic fermentation. The wine's first aging lasts seven months, with some aging in stainless steel tanks and some in barriques. The wine is then transferred to bottle for a second fermentation on the fine lees, which lasts between 20 and 26 months. After this, the sparkling wine is aged in bottle for another three to four months.
Contadi Castaldi Franciacorta Brut is a sparkling, youthful brut with fine, long-lasting bubbles, straw-yellow in color with greenish hues in the glass.
