It's both hated and loved, the Pinot Noir grape. This somewhat headstrong grape has a large fan base worldwide. But there are also plenty of people who aren't impressed by its unique character. It made waves in the vineyards of Burgundy, where it is the quintessential blue grape. However, it also produces unparalleled wines and champagnes in Alsace and Champagne. It's also finding increasing acceptance in the vineyards of Languedoc-Roussillon, though it still lags behind classics like Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This doesn't mean this Corette Pinot Noir is bad; quite the opposite. The winemakers at Corette showcase the power of Pinot Noir in this red wine.

This red wine from Corette is aged in wood

Corette Winery is a relatively young winery. It was founded by Catherine and Laurent Delaunay, who already own successful wineries in Burgundy and the Côtes du Rhône. They decided to bring their knowledge and expertise further south to France and settled in Languedoc-Roussillon. They specialize in producing wines from a single grape variety. This allows them to fully express the characteristics of each grape and present them to the wine-drinking public. The unique Pinot Noir, which plays a key role in this red wine, has also carved out a special place in the Languedoc-Roussillon vineyards.

Why buy Corette Pinot Noir wine?

Despite the distinctive character of this Corette Pinot Noir, the winery remains true to its vision: producing everyday wines. Even for non-Pinot Noir drinkers, this Corette red wine is a pleasant surprise. This is primarily due to the oak aging. The beautiful juice is aged for up to nine months in oak barrels. This gives it a robust and spicy character, revealing refined aromas of raspberries, strawberries, and spices. The finish is intense with lush nuances of cinnamon and cumin. However, the velvety character of Corette Pinot Noir remains well-preserved.
