After the white Crudo, the next big hit is the red Crudo wine. It's made on the warm island of Sicily from Nero d'Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. These grape varieties thrive in the high-altitude vineyards. Because of the altitude, the bunches receive plenty of cooling from the ocean breeze, as well as refreshment from the sharply dropping nighttime temperatures. Sometimes the difference between day and night can reach as much as 20 degrees Celsius. This gives the red grape varieties Nero d'Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon the chance to rest and enjoy plenty of coolness. The growing season for this red Crudo wine is therefore long and very balanced.

When the harvest is ripe and has drawn strength from the rich soil structure, the time is ripe to harvest the best bunches. Harvest always takes place early in the morning because that's the best time to gather the bunches. The Crudo winemaker allows only the finest bunches to be picked, as purity is paramount in this red wine. Both grape varieties are harvested separately, and the Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in oak barrels. This makes this red wine fuller and more powerful. After the long period of aging in oak barrels, the Crudo winemaker creates the blend. The marriage of Nero d'Avola and Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful marriage, and both grapes complement each other perfectly. It's a true joy to drink, we can tell you.
Full and very powerful this
The many hours of sunshine and strong sea breeze ensure the grapes are plump but also have sufficient coolness. This results in a rich, full-bodied wine that will be appreciated by many. The aroma offers a broad bouquet of both red and black fruit, complemented by subtle notes of pepper, licorice, and lavender. The palate is truly silky and creamy; it can be enjoyed slightly chilled, but is not essential. In the palate, we discovered nuances of cherries, small berries, and blackberries in this Crudo Nero d Avola Cabernet Sauvignon, as well as hints of lavender and green herbs. What a delightful glass!
