On the warm island of Sicily, the beautiful Nero d'Avola grapes are planted for this delicious red Paccamora Nero d'Avola from the impressive Curatolo Arini winery. This winery was founded in 1860 by Vito Curatolo Arini. A dream come true. While he previously sold his grapes to the major wineries in the region, he soon realized that with his high-quality grapes, he could also make beautiful wines himself. This gem of their range is no exception. Full-bodied, round, and above all, deliciously fruity.
The old vineyards of Curatolo Arini
The Cutatolo Arini winery is considered one of the largest producers in Marsala. Around 1860, as Italy's economy boomed, Vito Curatolo Arini commissioned the construction of a winery for his vineyards. The old vineyard where Nero d'Avola grapes are grown is located on the beautiful hills surrounding Favara San Cataldo. At an altitude of 500 meters above sea level, Vito found the ideal location for this grape. Facing south, the grapes enjoy abundant sunshine, which contributes positively to their ripening process. Furthermore, the terroir consists of clay and sand, which gives this grape variety its unique characteristics.
Manual harvest for Curatolo Arini Paccamora Nero d'Avola
At peak ripeness, the grapes are harvested entirely by hand and transported almost immediately to the winery. This allows them to retain their aromatic qualities. At the winery, the grapes are destemmed and macerated for six days. The grapes are then gently pressed, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged for several months in stainless steel. Curatolo Arini's Paccamora Nero d'Avola is a ruby red in the glass with a beautiful purple hue. The aroma reveals notes of violets, cherries, plums, and white pepper. The palate is full and deliciously rounded with abundant red fruit. The soft tannins balance everything out. An excellent wine for a barbecue or an Italian cheese platter.
