One of the finest Italian sparkling white wines we've ever tasted is this Cuvée dei Frati Brut. This sparkling king hails from Lombardy and is made using the Champagne technique, or as it's known in Italy, Brut Metodo Classico. This beautiful sparkling wine is made of 90% Turbiana and 10% Chardonnay, giving it its full character. Turbiana is a lesser-known grape, but it lends itself perfectly to sparkling wines. Its character is wonderfully fresh with beautiful citrus notes.
The bubbles of Ca dei Frati
Because this Cuvée dei Frati is Metodo Classico, this sparkling wine matures similarly to Champagne. For 24 months, the wine develops a pleasant mousse in the bottle in the beautiful cellars of Ca dei Frati. After disgorging, the wine is allowed to age in the bottle for another four months, after which it is released by the winemaker. We've had Ca dei Frati wines in our collection for years, so we're certainly familiar with them. However, this sparkling wine is still relatively new to our range. Nevertheless, this wine is certainly here to stay and is already a bestseller!
The aromas and flavors of the Cuvee dei Frati Brut
Time to thoroughly savor this gem! Upon pouring, we immediately notice the beautiful pale yellow color with golden shimmer. The bubbles in the glass are present but subtle, preventing the mousse from being overpowering. Cuvée dei Frati Brut has aromas of yellow and white fruit, complemented by notes of baked bread, nuts, and citrus peel. The palate is pure and very refined, with lovely fruit nuances of apple, pear, apricot, and citrus. There are also subtle notes of roasted nuts such as hazelnut, bread, and vanilla. This Brut from Ca dei Frati is truly top-notch.
