This The Money Spider Roussanne is an exotic white wine that is full-bodied, rich, and complex. D'Arenberg planted Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne in the mid-1990s. The first Roussanne harvest in 2000 was covered in tiny "Money Spiders." It was believed that kindness to these tiny creatures would bring good luck, so winemaker Chester decided not to kill them. The following year, the spiders were relocated, and this wine was released for the first time in 2001.

The success of the d'Arenberg winery

In 1912, Joseph Osborn purchased several established vineyards planted in the previous century. Cellars were built in 1928, and the wine was sold throughout the country. In the late 1950s, d'Arry Osborn took control of the winery. His enormous flair and focus on quality brought considerable recognition to the d'Arenberg winery, one of the first cult wines on the Australian market. The distinctive color scheme—a diagonal red stripe—gave the brand a significant boost in the market. By maintaining an emphasis on traditional winemaking and nurturing their old vines, the Osborn clan successfully established itself as one of the leading producers of concentrated wines with character. Small batches of grapes were gently crushed and transferred to stainless steel presses. Fermentation was long and moderately cool to preserve the fresh fruit characteristics and was carried out in stainless steel tanks. Only free-run juice was used for the final wine, which underwent no malolactic fermentation.

Enjoy a lively Roussanne

The first organic wine from the 2000 vintage to be released is The Money Spider Roussanne. A lively and textural wine with aromas of peach, banana, lemon, honeydew melon, and flowers. The palate is more tropical, with green mango, citrus peel, and nectarine. A juicy mid-palate blends with a lively and zesty acidity.
