This beautiful Portuguese winery, Vinhos Borges, has made a significant contribution to Portuguese winemaking. The winery has been active since 1884 and was founded by brothers Antonio and Francisco. With immense passion and dedication, Vinhos Borges has grown into a global player, producing some of the finest wines, including this Dão Meia Encosta white wine. This white wine originated in 1970 when a new vineyard was purchased in Dão. Their goal was simply to produce the finest and, above all, affordable white Dão wine in Portugal. And they've more than succeeded, because this is truly stunning.

The composition of this white Dão Meia Encosta

The old vineyard is now mature and is yielding the winemaker a top-notch harvest. Various local grape varieties are used, including Malvasia Fina, Encruzado, Bical, and Fernão Pires. These grapes thrive in a wonderful climate with abundant sunshine, falling nighttime temperatures, and nutrient-rich, mature soil. All this contributes to the top harvest, which is harvested early in the morning. This minimizes the risk of damage and prevents the grapes from oxidizing.

Full and very powerful this Dão Meia Encosta wine

Once the grapes are harvested one by one, the blend for this white Dão Meia Encosta is created. The entire wine is aged for a full four months on the lees, giving it greater power and depth. This translates into aromas of lime, passion fruit, and a touch of anise on the nose. The palate is fresh and a true thirst-quencher, with abundant lemon notes interspersed with hints of green apple and pear. The finish reveals plenty of finesse and some light green herbs such as mint leaves.
