The vineyards for this De Gras Estate Sauvignon Blanc are located near the sea. The influences of the sea and the fresh sea breeze create wonderfully fresh and vibrant grapes. The winemakers at Montgras, the winery that produces this beautiful De Gras Estate series, pour a great deal of love and expertise into these vineyards. Due to the warm summer temperatures, it's important that the ripening of this Sauvignon Blanc doesn't proceed too quickly. The harvest for this Chilean white wine is carried out entirely by hand, very early in the morning. This early harvest preserves the freshness of the grapes and prevents unnecessary bruising of the skins. Once at the press, the grapes are carefully pressed to ensure only the finest juice is collected for this wine. After aging for several months in stainless steel vats, the wine is ready to be enjoyed.
The old vineyard of De Gras
Thanks to the Gras brothers, we've been able to sell these delicious wines for years. First under the name Montgras, later with a "revamp" as DeGras, named after the brothers Hernán and Eduardo Gras. These brothers joined forces in 1993 and built one of Chile's finest wineries. Hernán already had a background in the wine industry, and Eduardo had extensive entrepreneurial experience. A golden duo, as quickly became apparent after the success of their first wines. Today, De Gras Estate wines are known and loved worldwide. It's no wonder, considering the wonderfully pure wines they produce.
What does De Gras Sauvignon Blanc taste like?
When pouring, a wonderfully fresh, effervescent aroma emanates directly from the glass. This, combined with the light yellow color and green glint, indeed leads us to suspect we're tasting a Sauvignon Blanc. This aroma confirms this after a few vigorous swirls of the glass. Delightful aromas of green apple, gooseberry, citrus, and freshly mown grass. The taste is true perfection. All the flavors are perfectly balanced, giving this Sauvignon Blanc Estate a delightful yet not overly acidic character, with a pleasantly present flavor. The palate reveals delightful nuances of white fruit and peach, interspersed with notes of gooseberry and citrus. The finish is refreshing and smooth, one of our favorites from De Gras!
