What a beautiful wine this is, this one from De Kleine Schorre in Schouwen-Duiveland, Zeeland! This Auxerrois was one of the first wines from this fine winery, and its purity and strength are its hallmarks.
Zeeland wines from De Kleine Schorre

The De Kleine Schorre adventure began in 2001. In collaboration with the renowned Luxembourg winery Cep d'Or, they established a winery that surprises with its strong wines. The choice of grape varieties is based on several criteria. Among other things, the wines must seamlessly complement what Zeeland has to offer, namely fish. Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Rivaner, and Auxerrois were therefore quickly chosen. 42,000 vines have now been planted. The vineyard has grown to 10 hectares, making it one of the largest in the Netherlands.

One of the most important grapes for De Kleine Schorre is Pinot Blanc. In the sunny Dreischor region where the vineyards are located, the temperature is just right for this grape to develop perfectly. It retains its freshness, which we can savor in the glass. Winemaker Johan van de Velde blends his Pinot Blanc wines by adding 10 percent of another grape variety. In some years, this is 10 percent Pinot Gris, and in other years, it's Auxerrois. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel until the wine develops an elegant and vibrant character.
What does the De Kleine Schorre Schouwen Duiveland Auxerrois taste like?

The Kleine Schorre Auxerrois has a bright straw yellow color. Its aroma evokes Pinot Blanc, a descendant of this variety, with lovely notes of apple, citrus, and gooseberry. The palate is full and clean with a refined character, beautiful notes of white peach, apples, melon, and a hint of lime zest. Excellent as an aperitif and therefore also pairs well with seafood, such as mussels.
