The king's wine of De Stefani, this red Stefen 1624 from the Refrontolo wine region, Colli di Conegliano DOCG. The name Stèfen is the old family name of the Stefani family. This was found in old documents dating back to 1624. With the Stèfen 1624, the Stefani family wanted to create a wine that was a throwback to the past. They also used the ancient indigenous grape Marzemino. A true masterpiece, this beautiful red wine has earned awards such as 97 points from Luca Maroni, 95 points from James Suckling, and 92 points from Robert Parker. The "Stèfen 1624" vineyard on the Colvendrame estate is located on the hills of Refrontolo, between Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. Colvendrame is the name of the hill where these vineyards are located, which boasts a very favorable climate. The vineyard lies at an altitude of 300 meters, ensuring a balanced growing season.

Dried grapes for this red Stèfen 1624 wine

The vineyard's planting dates back to 1987, and it has now reached maturity and is producing a powerful, full harvest. Once the grapes have reached their perfect ripeness, they are dried. They lose some of their moisture and are only pressed later, resulting in a much more powerful and full-bodied juice. This is further enhanced by the thirty-six months of oak aging. A crucial period for this red Stèfen 1624, as it develops an enormously powerful and complex aroma and flavor. But that's not all, as this is followed by eighteen months of aging in the De Stefani cellars. Only when the winemaker is completely convinced of the quality of the Stefen 1624 are the bottles allowed for sale.

The aroma and taste of the De Stefani Stefen 1624

With its deep ruby red color, this wine looks very appealing in the glass. The color alone suggests a mysterious glass. The aroma offers intense notes of ripe wild red fruit. The palate surprises with full flavors of ripe red fruit, interspersed with hints of tobacco and cocoa, followed by black currants and a subtle hint of tannins. What a truly special glass of wine!
