This cuvée is a selection from various vineyard plots. The grapes come exclusively from a plot within the aforementioned "La Landonne" slope. The first vintage of this cuvée was 1997. The wine is made only in the very best years.

The perfect climate for Deals Cote Rotie

The northern part of the vineyard, the Côte Brune, consists of extremely steep, terraced slopes of iron-bearing mica schist covered with slate sand. The Côte Blonde has a diverse geology, with gneiss and granite predominating on the southernmost side of the appellation. This area experiences dry, hot summers with regular rainfall during the other seasons. It is one of the oldest vineyards in France, first cultivated by the Romans. It is said that during the Middle Ages, "The Seigneur de Maugiron" gave a hill to each of his two daughters. This is how the names "Côte Brune" and "Côte Blonde" came about. The grapes used are hand-picked only at peak ripeness. Fermentation takes place in traditional open-top concrete tanks after three days of cold maceration. Before fermentation, the maceration process is carried out under controlled temperatures of 28 to 30 degrees Celsius. The daily cap-pressing and pump-over process takes place for approximately ten days. The total barrel time can reach up to twenty days.

Fourteen to sixteen months of maturation for Cote Rotie

The wine then matures for fourteen to sixteen months in barrels between one and three years old. This allows this Delas Cote Rotie to develop into an absolute top wine from the region. It's known locally for its full-bodied and powerful character, with silky nuances. And that's absolutely true! What a fantastic wine from the Rhône. The palate displays a light tannic structure, good balance, and a silky character. The Delas Cote Rotie has good concentration and a delicate finish. Powerful yet subtle aromas of black and red berries, licorice, and a slightly smoky undertone with a hint of vanilla in the background.
