Delas Frères began its partnership with "Domaine des Genets" in 1990. It comprises the wine production of 25 hectares and includes vineyard management and all production steps, including the production of Delas' "Vacqueyras Domaine des Genêts." Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre are the main grape varieties used in this wine.
Under the 1937 Côtes du Rhône AOC decree, Vacqueyras was one of the first villages to be recognized for the quality of its wines. Initially classified as "Côtes du Rhône Vacqueyras" and then classified as Côtes du Rhône Villages in 1955, the Vacqueyras vineyard was finally granted AOC status in 1990.
The wine region for Delas Vacqueyras
The vineyard area covers the two communes of Vacqueyras and Sarrians, within the Vaucluse département, extending to the hills of the Dentelles de Montmirail. The soils are alluvium and terraced, of glacial origin, formed during the Riss period of the Quaternary era. The climate is hot and dry, with abundant sunshine, ideal for ripening the grapes.
After destemming and crushing the grapes, alcoholic fermentation takes place for fifteen days in closed tanks. To improve extraction, the juice is pumped over daily. Temperatures are controlled between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius. After draining and pressing, malolactic fermentation takes place in tanks. The wine is stored in tanks to preserve the fruity aromas. It is regularly pickled to naturally stabilize its components. The "Domaine des Genêts" cuvée is then bottled after aging, which can last up to twelve months.
