Thanks to the expertise and passion of Château d'Avrille's winemakers, this wine transports you to the Loire Valley, France.
The vinification of Domaine d'Avrille Chardonnay
In 1938, Eusèbe Biotteau began producing wine on his estate. The Château, however, dates back to 1730 and was built with the peat stone so famous in Anjou. Château d'Avrillé is located in the Loire Valley, a tourist hotspot known for its châteaux. It enjoys a privileged location in the Maine-et-Loire region, in the heart of the Anjou vineyards. The Loire landscapes and its monuments have been recognized by UNESCO as being of outstanding universal value. Moreover, the Loire, Europe's most eloquent river, flows here in a delightful setting favored by the climate and its terroirs. The wines reflect this landscape, full of charm and delicacy.
The vines for this Chardonnay are deeply rooted in a silt and gravel terroir near the Aubance region. At peak ripeness, the grapes are harvested and taken directly to the winery. Here, a rigorous selection process follows, and the grapes are pressed immediately. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 16 to 17 degrees Celsius. The wine then rests on its fine lees, adding roundness and complexity to the wine. This gives this Chardonnay its elegance and freshness.
An elegant and fresh Chardonnay
A greenish-yellow Chardonnay that's elegant and fresh, with aromas of banana and forget-me-nots on the nose. On the palate, the wine is round and lively, making it the perfect pairing with shellfish dishes.
