This beautiful, classic winery, Domaine Henri Delagrange, is a true Burgundy powerhouse. The wines are still made today by the Delagrange family, and they are more than proud of it. Every Burgundy enthusiast knows the quality of this winery, which has cultivated its wines sustainably for years. All wines are made from grapes sourced from their own vineyards. This allows for effective management and adjustments, ensuring the perfect harvest, which is evident in this red wine. Domaine Henri Delagrange has achieved the highest results from its small plots of land for six generations.

The old Pinto Noir vineyard in Hautes Côtes de Beaune

Since 1978, they've been producing these fantastic wines under their own name, a fact every Burgundy lover knows. Over the years, the winery has acquired even smaller parcels, bringing the total to 14.5 hectares of vineyards. For this top-notch wine, we travel to the Hautes Côtes de Beaune. Here, the vineyards face southeast on a slope 150 meters above sea level. This small parcel produces some truly great wines, we can tell you. The soil is a treasure trove for the grapes, consisting of red, stony marl, something the region is known for. All bunches are harvested by hand to ensure the highest possible quality. And we can assure you, they've succeeded.

What does Henri Delagrange Hautes Côtes de Beaune taste like?

Once the grapes are pressed, the black juice is partially aged in oak barrels. French barrels are chosen for this red wine, which matures in them for ten months. After this period, the winemaker blends both wines—the oak-aged portion and the stainless steel barrels. This gives this Henri Delagrange Hautes Côtes de Beaune both strength and drinkability, setting it apart from its competitors. The aroma translates into impressions of cherries, raspberries, and a touch of violets, along with natural cedarwood and spices. The palate is a kind of enchantment, rich in flavors of violets and red fruit. Soft tannins develop on the back of the tongue and on the palate, complemented by a lively note of herbs and violets.
