Varietal(s) Chardonnay

With this Chardonnay, Rolet Winery clearly demonstrates its true potential. This 100% Chardonnay comes from vines planted on the hilltop, in the village of Chagnon to be precise. The soil consists of limestone with oily gravel, which produces beautiful aromas.

The vineyards of Domaine Rolet

Domaine Rolet's wine adventure began in 1940 when Desiree Rolet founded the winery. The estate now manages some 60 hectares, making it one of the largest producers in the Arbois region. The vineyards are spread across a 10-kilometer-wide strip, stretching from north to south. The rolling hills are beautiful and a stark contrast to the vast plains that surround them. Unique to this region is the soil. It consists primarily of limestone, and various noble grape varieties are grown on it. Characterful wines are vinified with great care. The Chardonnay grapes are harvested entirely by hand at peak ripeness. This manual harvest allows the grapes to be selected for quality right in the vineyard. Almost immediately after harvest, they are transported to the winery. Here, a rigorous selection process follows, and the Chardonnay grapes are sorted. After temperature-controlled fermentation, the wine matures for over 10 months in oak barrels, 30 percent of which are new.

The smell and taste of Domaine Rolet Arbois Chardonnay

The Arbois Chardonnay emerges with a light golden yellow color. Immediately, we can savor the delicious aromas of ripe white fruit, grapefruit, and white flowers. Fresh and fruity, the fruity notes are also clearly evident on the palate, along with a juicy, rich texture. Lively with depth and complexity thanks to the oak aging. Serve this Chardonnay as an accompaniment to grilled fish, shellfish, or quiches.
